Natal Super Strain (NSS) is native to pastures in the Natal region of South Africa. The species is known as “Natal Super Strength” due to its high potency.

Natal Super Strength Mushrooms are known for their high potency, often surpassing that of many other Psilocybe cubensis strains. Users report a wide range of effects, including vivid visual hallucinations, enhanced sensory perception, deep introspective thoughts, and a strong sense of euphoria. Many users also experience spiritual awakenings and a heightened sense of connection to the universe. Due to their potent effects, it is essential to approach dosing with caution. Beginners should start with a lower dose to gauge their sensitivity and response.

P. natalensis belong to the Hymenogastraceae family and contain high psilocybin, psilocin, and baeocystin levels in their bluing fruit bodies. Psilocybin, psilocin, and baeocystin are naturally occurring psychoactive, hallucinogenic compounds known as alkaloids.

The overall consensus is that P. natalensis tends to be more potent than P. cubensis. Several estimates converge on natal super-strength mushrooms being 1.5 – 2x more potent on average than P. cubensis.

Natal Super Strength Mushrooms are notable for their robust physical characteristics and distinctive appearance. They typically feature medium to large caps with a caramel to golden-brown coloration. The stems are thick and sturdy, often exhibiting a white to light brown hue. One of the defining features of this strain is its vigorous growth, which makes it a reliable choice for cultivators.

Psilocybe natalensis tends to be a revered species among those who have grown and sampled it. Those who have experienced P. natalensis share the following sentiments: 

“I tend to be happier on nats. They seem less edgy to me than cubensis.”

“I can only compare them to APE [P. cubensis], and I prefer these. You could say they’re about equal in strength, but they give me a different level of the trip. If cubes are 3D, natalensis are 4D.”
